Handy Hardware is one of only six dealer-owned hardware buying groups in the U.
S. We have been 100% dealer-owned since our inception in 1961. As a regional wholesale
hardware distributor, whose growth spans the last forty three years, Handy's
basic structure and approach to the market place have remained sound and unchanged,
through an ever-changing economy.
Governed by an elected board of directors, who provide policy and direction, we
strive to listen to and satisfy member's needs, allowing them the greatest input
regarding product selection, warehouse and drop-ship programs, merchandising, marketing,
and advertising. The board consists of nine dealer/members, and are elected to serve
three-year terms.
Every dealer/member has an ownership in the company, with equal voting rights and
privileges, whether located in the Houston metropolitan area, or as far away as
Colorado, Florida, or even Central America!
Handy Currently serves over 1,300 members in twelve states, including Alabama, Arkansas,
Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kansas,
Georgia and Texas. Additionally, we are pleased to provide services for a number
of retailers in Mexico, Central America and the Carribean.
Handy employs a full staff of veteran sales professionals, all of whom live and
work within their areas of responsibility. Our representatives work as a liaison
between every member they represent and Handy's corporate headquarters and distribution
center. They assist prospective new members with sign-up, and visit with members
in the field on a daily basis to help with promotional ideas, new store planning
and merchandising, remodeling, problem solving, and advertising. They also assist
dealers in communicating with Handy's vendors regarding direct shipments, product
service and warranties, and in seeking new sources of supply.
